All coaches require administrative approval before beginning. Community volunteers must complete the official documentation and screening appropriate to their role. Coach orientation must occur before duties begin, including for coaches joining during the year.
Coaches and volunteers represent Carbonear Collegiate. Model respectful conduct and maintain appropriate adult student boundaries. Humiliation, discrimination, harassment, threats and profanity directed at others are inconsistent with this role.
Use school approved communication methods and keep families informed. Protect student medical and personal information. Do not publish student information or images without school authorization and applicable consent. Report safety concerns promptly through school procedures.
Maintain appropriate supervision from student arrival through dismissal. Confirm student clearance, emergency arrangements, safe equipment and facility access. Stop an activity when conditions are unsafe and seek school direction.
Coaching remains subject to administrative approval. Concerns may result in direction, revised duties or withdrawal of volunteer approval. Use the Before You Coach checklist and acknowledgement in Resources.
To volunteer at Carbonear Collegiate, all individuals are required to provide a current Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening each school year.
This check can be completed online through the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Click here to access the RCMP form.
